The Calorimetry Conference plans to continue the tradition of hosting informative and instructional workshops organized by our corporate sponsors. We are pleased to announce that our colleagues at NETZSCH have agreed to organize a half-day Workshop on Calorimetric and Thermal Analysis Methods Applied to Process Safety and Battery Development in conjunction with CALCON 2011. This Workshop will convene on Sunday afternoon preceding the Conference Welcome Reception and is open to all registrants at no additional fee.

Abstract: This workshop is designed for scientists who are new to the areas of Calorimetry and Thermal Analysis or those with some experience in one or more methods but interested in expanding their knowledge. Thermal analysis has a wide range of applications. This workshop focuses on two primary areas: Chemical Processing and Li-Ion Battery Development. These two topic areas provide excellent examples of how different thermal methods can be used together to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the underlying chemical and physical phenomena. Furthermore, these areas have a broader social appeal due to the development of greener processes and continuing advancement of the electric vehicle and portable power applications.
